The Dangers of Primal Mothering

When it comes to natural mothering, there is always a concern over "dangers". Whether those "dangers" are regarding choosing a natural medicine over a conventional one; a homebirth rather than a hospital birth or whether the dangers are real or even just imagined; there is speak of danger.
(insert scary music)

So I have given some thought to it and decided that I'd look back into my years of natural mothering and list all the horrible results here. My children are ages 23, 21, 19, 11 and 6.

Here are my top 10 dangerous results of this "primal mothering" thing we do:

1. My son no longer has "severe asthma". In fact, he doesn't have it all.
(Mind you, he was told at age 15 that he would be dead before age 30.)
2. My children stopped catching "normal" illnesses (colds, stomach flu,
etc) in 1997. Rarely do they become ill and when they do, we get rid of it
within hours.
3. They come to me with their joys, sorrows, concerns, no matter their age
or stage in life. They know they can trust me wholeheartedly.
4. They love one another intensely.
5. We thoroughly enjoy being together never growing weary of another's
presence.
6. Despite horrible things that can happen in life, we remain truly happy
each day.
7. The babies in this family are very relaxed emotionally and
physically.
8. My unsocialized homeschoolers who are adults have been somewhat
successful thus far. My daughter took a part time job at a well-known pharmacy
drug store (ironic, isn't it?) and was made a manager after 1 year. She
pays her entire month's bills by working 12 days per month. She's also involved heavily in ministerial service. My son took a job as a dishwasher and within 6 months had been promoted numerous times until he was a closing manager of the restaurant. He was attending school at the same time.
9. My unsocialized homeschoolers actually relate very well to babies,
toddlers, children, teens, adults and the elderly alike-- not even
understanding the concept of "generation gap".
10. They are kind, loving, considerate, patient and accepting people.

All in all.. I think I like living dangerously. :-)

  1. How do you fight off illnesses so quickly? Are you raw foodists? Or what is your route of health? You sound VERY inspiring!

  3. I love your 10 dangerous outcomes of primal parenting. So true, we have loved embracing the natural rhythms. Such a beautiful path, it's too bad so many miss out on this due to cultural incorrectness.
