"Well, we all have our opinions."
It's a typical response when a person has their mind made up. And it is true. We do, as individuals, have our own opinions of things. You may think that natural mothering is totally flaky and I do not. Those are our opinions.
However, if there is one thing I pride myself on it would be the fact that when it comes to topics of health, I never express my opinion. If I state it, I can back it up with proof. I didn't make my life choices based upon opinion. In fact, if I had, I would still be a bottle feeding, crib-using, vaccinating, Tylenol-dosing mama. (Did I hear a collective gasp?) Yes, it's true. I use to be your typical western conventional mom. It was through education and FACTS that I made my choices.
And I absolutely LOVE when the facts to support natural mothering come from the most conventional sources of all. There is nothing funnier, in my opinion, than having the truth come from the horse's mouth. If you thought Mr. Ed was a funny talking horse, check out what these horses have to say:
A 1992 study published in The American Journal of Epidemiology shows that children die at a rate 8 times greater than normal within three days after getting a DPT vaccination.
A preliminary study by the Center for Disease Control (CDC) found children who received the HiB vaccine ... were found to be 5 times more likely to contract the disease than children who had not received the vaccine.
In the New England Journal of Medicine July 1994 issue a study found that over 80% of children under 5 years of age who had contracted whooping cough had been fully vaccinated against whooping cough.
In 1977 Dr Jonas Salk (inventor of the Salk polio vaccine) testified with other scientists that 87% of the polio cases which occurred in the US since 1970 were the by-product of the polio vaccine. The Sabin oral polio vaccine (OPV) is the only known cause of polio in the us today.
(Science 4/4/77 “Abstracts”)
The February 1981 issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association found that 90% of obstetricians and 66% of pediatricians refused to take the rubella vaccine.
wow thats definately something to think about...thank you for sharing the info and encouraging my own research :)
ReplyDeleteI agree that it's not the government's place to tell use how to care for our children. I do know what those viruses can do to children which is why I choose not to expose my children to the diseases via vaccinations.
ReplyDeleteDuring an outbreak of any of these diseases, nearly 100% of the people who actually contract the disease are the vaccinated..not the unvaccinated. Their immune systems having been destroyed by the vaccines, they cannot ward off the disease. By the same token, there is more of a chance of contracting the diseases from the vaccines than through more natural means.
That's two strikes against vaccines with one stone.
I hate that being in NJ you have to, by law, vaccinate your child. I don't know that much about it, but from what i've heard, it's not fun and games. Plus, what kid likes to get all those shots? I know I didn't. I definitely have to do more research about it... also maybe convince my fiancee to move to another state! haha. I'm not sure I want to stay living somewhere where something medically has to be forced upon my future child, especially something that I know not too much about.
ReplyDeleteSadly, NJ does not permit philosophical exemptions. You must actually file for a religious exemption and be able to submit PROOF that your religion does prohibit them. Not many religions prohibit them.
ReplyDeleteEvery state, however ,has a medical exemption. It is worthwhile to look into that.
hmm. I am curious what falls under a "medical exception". Don't get me wrong, I don't wish my or any child to ever have a problem medically, but I do wonder what they consider a medical exemption. I will do the research.
ReplyDeleteDifferent states have different laws regarding a medical exemption. However, Dr. Mercola has written an excellent article which can be helpful to anyone desiring to avoid poisoning their children with toxic vaccines.
ReplyDeleteSee the article at http://www.mercola.com/article/vaccines/legally_avoid_shots.htm
If anyone is able to find this comment, I am curious if you would answer these few questions. I am writing an English paper on the two viewpoints on vaccinating children.
ReplyDeleteI am still not for or against it, either way.
For those of you who have decided not to vaccinate your child(ren):
1. Were you vaccinated as a child by your parent?
2. Is the potential chance of vaccines causing autism or other neurological side effects your biggest worry in vaccinating your child(ren)? If not, what is?
3. Are you not worried that your child(ren) might possibly be infected by a child who has been vaccinated?
Thank you for your thoughts.
Can I have links to the studies you've mentioned?
ReplyDeleteI am adding links. See the article.
